This Saturday we helped time the inagural Leo’s Club 5k in Bayport.   If you ran, you can check out your results on the race website: http://www.freewebs.com/bayportxc/leosclub5k.htm

Congrats to men’s Champ Eric Haun of Bayport XC and women’s champ Kate Most.

Alerting all neutral feet:

Asics’ latest edition neutral shoes have arrived.  The Nimbus 10 and Cumulus 10 hit specialty running stores earlier this week.  Feedback from customers so far has been very positive as only slight adjustments have been made to the popular cushioning shoes.  The Nimbus features a slightly more flexible forefoot and the asymmetrical lacing system previously only found in the Kinsei series.

The main changes in the Cumulus revolve around a new “decoupled” heel designed to increase shock absorption without adding weight or bulk to the shoe.

These shoes are available early to customers of select running specialty stores (including SRC).  If you’re a netural runner or supinator try a pair out today!

SRC Racing Team member and bona-fide River Road Rat Bill Gironda was featured in an article in this month’s Runner’s World. The article [below] discussed the benefits of team training using two examples: Jason Lehmkuhle (of Cow Harbor Champ and 5th place finish at the Olympic Marathon Trials Fame) and our own favorite bald headed masters runner, Bill Gironda. Anytime an article mentions both the legendary River Road Sunday morning long run AND Billy G it’s a sure-fire lock to make the blog.

The LI Marathon Festival of Races was a rousing success for SRC this past weekend.  We got to visit with 6,000 of our closest LI friends at the Expo on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before seeing some pretty solid performances from the store racing team on Sunday.  SRC put 6 runners in the top 25 in the Half Marathon.

Special thanks to the volunteers who worked their tails off to put this on.  It was especially cool to see Bill Mullaney and Karnik Seferian cheering us on and reading splits at miles 5&6.
(Two thumbs up to men’s Marathon winner and current ND law student Dan McGrath.  I haven’t met Dan yet, but if he’s a Domer he’s cool in my book.  Go Irish!)
